ABOUT
Hi I'm Bob from Deluxe Handyman Services. I have over 45 years of experience in many residential construction and home maintenance trades to benefit my customers. I started this business with my wife Cathy in 2006 when we moved to Pennsylvania from New Jersey. Since then my business has grown steadily each year despite the tough economy and I have been voted the best handyman service in the Poconos nine times by my customers and readers of the local newspaper I advertise in. I will continue to strive to be the best and give my customers the highest quality craftsmanship and superior service and satisfaction they deserve!

You can find me on Facebook, in The Pocono Times, on Google, Craigslist, Yellowbook.com, and almost any internet search engine.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my valued customers for their continued loyalty and support. Please come visit my website again soon!
MY STORY:
I have worked in the trades for almost my entire life. I started with my father in his wood shop, learning carpentry skills building furniture at the age of seven. In my teens and twenties I continued on with my dad as he created and developed his own trades businesses. I got more extensive training in carpentry by framing, building decks, installing trim, windows, doors, and cabinetry. We also did a lot of interior and exterior painting, drywall work, and had a landscaping crew for several years.
Then, for a decade or so before I started this business, I worked for new home construction companies in New Jersey building tracts of homes. I worked my way up from general labor to being the lead on site handyman. I did all of the punch list work as the homes were built, as well as the warranty service and repairs for the homeowners that bought them. I gained a lot of experience by going through every phase of the home building process again and again. I worked alongside many different types of contractors, watching and learning about their trades. I scheduled and received orders for building materials, did walkthroughs with building inspectors, and learned about building codes. Most importantly, I learned how to give good customer service to the new homeowners and make sure they got the high quality service they deserved from me and the company I represented.
Now, being a business owner for 15 years, I have learned even more about what providing good customer service means to the customer and my company’s reputation. I bring all my skills and knowledge to the table every time I do a job or estimate. I am here to help in any way I can. If I can’t do the work myself, I can make a referral. I can give some guidance in the right direction to get the project done the best way, or save some time and money. When working in someone’s home you quickly develop an intimate relationship. This is where their family is, where their life happens! I always keep this in mind and take on any job in anyone’s home as if it were my own. That is the kind of service I like to provide. That is the kind of service my good customers deserve. That is the reason my business continues to grow and I get VOTED THE BEST HANDYMAN SERVICE IN THE POCONOS year after year.
MY BUSINESS PHIOSOPHY:
1 - Treat others the way you would want to be treated with honesty, dignity, and respect. 2 - Word of mouth is the best advertising, so always do your best work. 3 - Integrity, high quality work and a fair price go a long way towards lasting customer relationships. 4 – Keep it real.
I am a “down to earth” kind of guy, and my approach to my customers reflects that. I find that most people respond well to my “keep it real” approach, even if it’s not what they expected to hear about their home repair or project, I give them the benefit of my decades of knowledge and experience to come up with the best solution. I’ve never been about making a killing off of any one person or taking on any job they may have just to get their money. Honestly, as I’ve said, there’s no one person who truly “does it all.” Have you ever met someone who is an expert in carpentry, and electrical, and plumbing, and painting, and welding, and drywall, and masonry, and all the multitude of other trades it takes to build and maintain a home? I haven’t.
Typically, as handyman services go, a customer is looking to hire one “fix it” person to do odd jobs, repairs, or improvements around the house. Unless the service you hire comes with a crew of people, each with their own different skill sets, then no one handyman service truly “does it all.” There are some out there who will say that, and attempt any job they can get, but let’s just say “buyer beware” to that. In my 15 + years of doing business in Pennsylvania I’ve heard many stories from my customers about some contractors never calling them back, not showing up for estimate or work appointments, or even worse taking their hard-earned money and disappearing! Those few individuals make it hard on customers and legitimate contractors alike. That is not the way I conduct myself in business, or in life, so no worries here folks.
When it comes to working alone, I don’t “do it all,” but what I do I execute exceptionally well. I’m always honest with my customers about what I do and don’t do myself, as well as what I know and don’t know about. (Nobody “knows it all” either.) Still, I try to provide my customers with as many services as I can to get them what they need by using helpers for bigger jobs, or giving referrals to other contractors if the work is beyond the scope of what I do. I network with many local contractors to build a mutual system of support and integrity in the trades, and to help stimulate the local economy. The bottom line: Helping people is what I do. My customers and my contractors take care of me and I take care of them. Everyone benefits from these types of relationships.
